Community Involvement

An Eagle Scout and Kiwanis member, Dray Perkins has been serving groups within the Sturgis community, and several others around it, for over 20 years. In addition to the Scout Oath and Law, Dray Perkins values grassroots democracy through activism, social justice for all people, peaceful conflict resolution, and environmental/ecological sustainability.

With over 20+ years of community service, Dray Perkins is an active member of the Sturgis Kiwanis Community Garden Committee. He also volunteers for other garden related programs throughout the city teaching residents entrepreneurship and self reliance. He is a committee chair for the Sturges-Young Auditorium Board of Directors, and currently serves as their elected VP. He has organized and participated in numerous donation drives around the community and has provided free snow removal services for residents and groups in severe need. He supports local businesses and a number of causes including the Historical Museum, Salvation Army, SJCCOA, DASA, and more.
